Chat? Maybe, Maybe NotI'm going to be pretty busy today so I don't know if I'll be around to chat. The room is open if you want to use it, but I'm not sure if I'll be around at the usual time. Posted on April 25, 2005 at 13:30, GMT
SplendaThe most disturbing thing I've encountered during our recent time in America (besides the Cadillac SUVs with Bush/Cheney bumper stickers) is something called "Splenda," an artificial sweetener. So far I've mistakenly bought both ice cream and a carton of juice that were sweetened with Splenda, which after one taste I promptly threw in the trash. Yech. Posted on April 25, 2005 at 13:15, GMT
Crude Earl UpdateThe 30-minute chart of crude continues to give good, consistent, tradeable moves.

Bits from Barron'sInteresting bits from this week's Barron's:
"Renminbi forwards are now pointing to a revaluation of as much as 5.5% in the Chinese currency, the widest level since early January ...
The one-year currency forward rate is now 7.82 to the dollar, compared with 7.92 on April 1."
"... global oil-refining capacity today is barely greater than it was in 1980...." The CEO of Plantronics said "once you use a headset, you're hooked," which I thought was an amusing, though inadvertent, play on words. "Chinese sales of Chivas and Johnnie Walker rose over 50% last year. The Chinese prefer the more expensive Johnnie Walker Black, even though red, the color of Johnnie Walker's lower-priced brand, is considered lucky in China." "... Brown-Forman bought Jack Daniel's in 1956 for $17 million. The company's [current] market value of $6.7 billion is mostly attributable to Jack Daniel's." Posted on April 25, 2005 at 12:00, GMT
