Alternatives to Trading CrudeA couple of folks emailed me to ask about trading the OIH and XLE instead of Crude after they read yesterday's chat transcript. I simply meant that if you only have access to real-time stock data and not futures data, you might consider trading the Oil Services HOLDR (OIH), or the Energy SPDR (XLE), which are very liquid and active, instead. I've overlayed the price of crude (in gray) onto the charts below to illustrate how they move together.

Adsense Is Biting My AssI think the Google Adsense ads are not loading very quickly these days and it's ticking me off... I hate it when pages hang, especially when they're mine. Someone put together this nice list of Adsense alternatives, which I plan to look over carefully. Posted on June 21, 2005 at 7:30, GMT
The Pain of Being Both First and LastLocalization continues: Costs for expatriates in China high:
"China's most expensive city to live in for expatriates in Beijing, followed by Shanghai and Shenzhen, according to the survey - an annual study of 144 cities around the world.
Though costly, the Chinese cities still ranked rather low in terms of quality of life: Beijing, ranking 11th in cost of living among the 144 cities, ranked 132nd in quality of life. Shanghai, 16th in costliness, ranked 107th in quality of life."
Sometimes I wonder what the heck I was thinking with this move to Beijing. Posted on June 21, 2005 at 7:00, GMT
