Commercial Whaling and Japanese Broadcasts of MLB GamesReading this article, Japan to double whale catch, for some reason reminded me to write about watching Major League Baseball here. NHK, the Japanese broadcaster, airs every Major League Baseball game IF AND ONLY IF there is a Japanese player on the team (active roster). This means I've watched every single Tampa Bay Devil Rays game this year (Hideo Nomo) out of desperation and ENTIRELY AGAINST MY WILL. How I connected this weird Japanese chauvinism with their killing whales "for science," I have no idea. (The mind is a mysterious thing.) Posted on June 23, 2005 at 8:00, GMT
Traffic and Trading SignalsShort-term trend followers shouldn't have missed this last monster move in the bonds. Rest assured Fuzzy was on top of it, though Daddy was stuck in traffic on the Third Ring Road at the time of entry {sigh}. (Traffic here is horrific; I fondly remember the days when I could drunkenly weave my bike down the center of Jianguomen Avenue without fear.)
