Adding Delicious Bookmarks to the Sidebar
I’ve added a linkroll of my del.icio.us bookmarks in the sidebar. I didn’t use a widget, I simply followed these (idiot proof) instructions. Pretty sweet.
I use delicious every day… back in 1999 my friend Jono came up with the delicious idea exactly (I mean every aspect: a completely open, shared bookmarking website using keyword tags, which he was going to call bookmarks.com (even then that URL was taken — I know because we looked)), but he never did anything with it. As Jeff Bezos is fond of saying: good ideas are a dime a dozen; execution is everything.

dood: I learned of your site via TraderMike.
howard: I was afraid that it might slow down the loading of the page but it doesn’t seem to … beautiful blog integration … the person at Yahoo responsible for buying delicious should get a gold medal.

Ugly: Your links are much brainier than mine… I tend to be attracted to titties and beer (to quote Zappa).

Michael: Do you use delicious for your link blog?
August 21st, 2006 at 7:26 pm
Given your last delicious link I see that you already know I use FeedDigest. To answer your question about it — the reason I use it is that it allows me to only display certain tags. As far as I know, all the delicious plugins / scripts out there only allow you to pull one RSS feed at a time. So you could grab one tag or all of your tags. I only show the tags “stocks”, “Trading” and “For_TM”, which I use for non-trading things which I want to appear on the site.
Also, it has some nice features for formatting, etc. It’s almost like using FeedBurner vs. a plain RSS feed. But, no, it’s certainly not necessary.

Michael: Thanks for your thorough explanation.

Alright already. Peer pressure made me add delicious. Remember, I still have a hotmail account and until CM told me a couple months back, I didn’t know how to send a perma-link. I wish for the good old days, and my Tandy 2000 in grade 10 Computer Science class.

Zoomie: You’ll be using it ten times a day in no time. I was a TRS-80 man myself not long ago. ;-)
