Experiment with Obtrusive Ad
If you visit the website (I never do, I read maoxian as a feed), you’ll notice a new large colorful ad in the upper right hand corner. I’m doing a little experiment to see how much revenue this thing can generate in a month. With the old text ads I used to make about 20 cents a day, but these more obnoxious ones pay better (40 cents a day?).
I will report faithfully on how much beer I can buy with my monthly AdCents revenue!

Johnny: The ads revolve so I’m not sure which one you’re referring to… believe me, you don’t want to see my mugshot. :-)

Never noticed there were text ads. But the very first time I saw an ad up there, I added it into the Adblock filter list :)

The “obtrusive” ad will definitely help remind me to click on it so the chairman can afford more beers, the old text ads were almost invisible to me. How many clicks equal 40 cents? How many yuan for a beer?

Tom: Depends on the beer but a large bottle of local swill costs about RMB2.5 (US$0.36). I plan to do some beer taste testing and write up some semi-coherent blog posts with the results (accompanied by blurry pics of the bottle of course).

In my online search for Chinese beers I came upon two interesting links:
http://www.condsc.com/chinesebeerlabels/
http://www.united-nations-of-beer.com/blue-cowrie.html
Looking forward to your reviews and pics (click, click)

Tom: That beer label site is neat though the labels look very dated. The commies built separate beer factories in every city so there are hundreds (?) of small breweries around China, I believe.
