Hau, Ja Boss!
A few of my favorite lines from James McClure’s last book, The Song Dog (1991). I’m a huge fan of McClure’s “Kramer and Zondi mysteries” and recommend you check them out if you haven’t already.
“… a smile as fleeting as a nun’s wicked thoughts.”
“… a bald patch like the hall carpet in a cheap boarding house.”
“… as helpless as an upturned dung beetle.”
“… his face lighting up like a warthog’s at the sight of a wild melon.”
“… like a rock stuck in a dry river-bed.”
“… as unstable as a tripod that had just lost one leg.”
“… dropped dead like a poleaxed bull in a butcher’s yard.”
“… a laugh that could curdle viper’s milk.”
