Notable New Highs — September 25, 2006

Kind of muddled along until 11 AM sharp (can you spell “Buy Program”?) when the buyers came in and took things up into the close — very strong tape you wouldn’t want to be short in. Note: Telecom, Telecom, and Telecom.

    The Telecom HOLDRs (TTH) have sure had enough time to consolidate. After 4 years, I still don’t know if I trust this move.

    mrmike: Yes, like the rest of tech, since the beginning of the new bull market in early 2003 the telecoms have been treading water, relatively speaking. Nevertheless it’s easy to see that big money is flowing into them now.
