  1. Centro Shares Slump After Profit Forecast Cut

    2. “‘We never expected nor could reasonably anticipate that the sources of funding that have historically been available to us and many other companies would shut for business,’ Chairman Brian Healey said in the statement.”

    Eerily similar statement to Garrett Thornburgh’s back in August.

  2. Greenspan Favors Government Bailout for Homeowners

    3. “It’s far less damaging to the economy to create a short-term fiscal problem, which we would, than to try to fix the prices of homes or interest rates. If you do that, it’ll drag this process out indefinitely.”

    You can’t make this stuff up. So long, Ayn Rand! Warm up the helicopter, Ben!

  3. Wheat Price Rises Above $10 for First Time on Supply Concerns

    CNP (Centro) is a huge story for the ASX. The sector lost 11+% today and it’s been a key source of strength for the whole market for some time.

    Never just one cockroach in the kitchen is the expression I believe, but this is a biggy.

    Andrew: Yes, I expected that news to weigh heavily on the US market (more heavily than it ended up doing). I watch Bloomberg TV and they reported the CNP thing pretty heavily in our time zone.
