Stock Du Jour (LFC) & Random Observations
Kind of a flat morning then buying picked up in the afternoon… a decent day.
Notable New Lows: Vonage (VG) — is a Happy Meal about $2.40?; Gannett (GCI) — read that they recently boosted their dividend which horrified me; and Redwood Trust (RWT) — wonder if Wally Weitz still loves this one.
Notable New Highs: China Life (LFC), Intuitive Surgical (ISRG), and First Solar (FSLR).
I’ll feature a monthly chart of China Life Insurance (LFC) which has gone up a little bit these last couple years.

with the monthly china life chart you see that watching all-time highs would have got you in early, if you cared about it. It would have been up 400 percent by than.

scratch that about 100 percent from the lows I guess.

Hi Chairman. How do you find stocks like LFC? The only decent stock scanners I have found are all for the US market..?

Rod, LFC trades on the NYSE

Rod: Like Howard suggests, it’s always a good idea to be aware of what’s making new highs (day after day).

Howard, your earlier guess was closer than your second. 100% from the lows would’ve been around 14. up 10 folds from the lows would put you close to the highs.
though a trend follower would probably not have been in before mid teens, so realistically around 250% compounded from the breakout.

Chairman - thanks. I meant more specifically, how do you access foreign stock data - e.g. CSI via Metastock?

Rod: LFC is listed in New York but yes, I access foreign stock data via Yahoo! (Reuters) and more and more the Bloomberg (now that I have access to one).
