chad: You can find OK steak here. One place is called Morel’s (not bad) and there’s a new place in Oriental Plaza called The Steak Factory which is also decent (and cheap to boot).
When I see pictures and news clips from China I am amazed at how quickly 5000 years of culture has been so quickly replaced by “westernization”. What is so seductive about this western empire that people so willingly conform to its ways? It’s almost as if it perpetuates through the media and implants itself by creating illusions of “freedom” and “liberation”; slowly engulfing the entire world without a shot being fired.
Who is more free; the farmer in a rural, agrarian community or the millionaire businessman in a high-tech sea of surveillance cameras and personal tracking devices (cell phone), where his car is recording his every move and debit cards log his every purchase?
Sorry for the brain fart…you may return to your regularly scheduled programming.

In the States it always means:
“Thank Goodness It’s Friday”
Maoxian,
Whatever happened to all the “Babe” photos on the Weekends? Did the good looking girl in the above pic ban them?

@annon: It’s not a ticker symbol. ;-) “Thank God It’s Friday,” the cry of all working stiffs.
@RiskR: I got tired of hunting the internet for Gratuitous Cute Chick Pics; by not posting them I’ve lost about 90% of my traffic. ;-)
@pete: I’ve never been to a TGIF though I believe there is one (or more) in Beijing… I’m too old to do shots anymore, unfortunately.
