Three Random Observations

Had these three thoughts:

  1. Exclusive and expensive aren’t the same thing. (On the way to the gym)
  2. Italian soccer is more entertaining than Italian opera. (At the gym)
  3. China’s money supply growth must be huge because for the zillionth time when I took money out of the ATM I got twenty freshly printed, consecutively numbered 100 yuan bills that were all stuck together. (Coming back from the gym)

No doubt the money supply growth is Large. But don’t confuse money supply with currency. Currency is but a small percentage of money supply.

Here’s a good explanation of what money is…it may open your eyes a bit:

dayo: China is still largely a cash-based economy so the actual paper currency is a larger percentage of money supply than in the developed world (I’d look up the numbers but I’m lazy). Google video is blocked in China so I can’t learn what money is unfortunately.

“Google video is blocked in China …”

I must have missed a prior explanation but can you tell us once again why this is the case ? TIA

Todd: I’m not sure why… you know how arbitrary these authoritarian types are when it comes to “protecting” the people. YouTube was recently blocked during the Party Conference but was unblocked when it ended.

Excellent video dayo realy is eye opening. Unfortunatly it’s just one more thing I now know about which has no chance of change for the better.

From what I know their are a lot of money printing factories in Beijing.

Go to Guangzhou and you will notice all the money you get looks stone old.

ricky: I don’t know where Chinese currency is printed but I imagine there are factories in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou among other places… but I don’t really know. I have heard that the money in remote parts of the country is “stone old.”

Dayo’s video made me think…shouldn’t the current crdeit crisis propel the US Dollar upwards? Less loans means less money around according to the video.
