99 minute running time … this wasn’t super terrible like most recent movies, but it still isn’t good enough to recommend … there’s a funny editing error just as the movie starts where a car’s headlights can be seen in the distance even though it’s supposed to be 1906 or something … they owe a great debt to No Country For Old Men in a lot of scenes… Sam Gamgee is a handsome lad, must take after his ma … it’s pretty violent, but it’s a “western” of sorts … I wasn’t super thrilled, but it may be the perfect example of a two star movie (one star is terrible, three stars is recommend, two is in-between).
I Wanna Feel The Heat With Somebody
Morgan Harper-Jones with I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me) … I think this is a brilliant cover of the old Whitney song:
Movies Watched -- The Unforgiven (1959)
121 minute running time so at least 20 to 30 minutes too long … this was a weird one, based on a book written by the same guy who did The Searchers (you know, Natalie Wood, white baby raised as Injun) … in this one he flips the story so it’s an Injun baby (Audrey Hepburn!) raised as a white … Burt Lancaster is her big protective brother (inklings of incest) … Lillian Gish, ancient silent star, plays Ma (who lost her blonde-curled baby) … Audie Murphy plays another brother … the Injuns come to take Audrey back but just ride around in circles giving the white man plenty of time to pick them off with ease .. this is a John Huston movie … there are some nice shots framed, but the story is sort of mixed-up, and of course Audrey chooses her white family in the end and the whites triumph over the Injuns. Interestingly they use the term “red nigger” several times in the movie, which I’d never heard before. Also “redhide Injun.” This wasn’t terrible enough to get a one star avoid rating, but it obviously isn’t three star recommended.
(There’s also a great scene where a “half breed” chases a guy down by using three spare horses and hops from one to the next as they tire… I wonder who the stunt man was? There’s also a good scene where Lillian Gish plays the piano to battle the Injun flutes.)
A Red Nigger if ever was!
War-torn Feet
Flo Perlin with Baghdad … I dig it:
1,000 Axe Milestone Hit in Dig Out!
Hit a huge milestone in Dig Out! today: the 1,000 axe mark. This game is on an old iPhone kept next to the toilet. They ruined the game with updates, but I have a blessedly prehistoric, unsullied version from 2016. “An accessible wanderer game for simpletons.”
Movies Watched -- The Piano Teacher (2001)
In French. 125 minute running time so at least 30 minutes too long. This movie was ridiculous … just awful art-house porn. Isabelle Oooo-pair plays a sexually masochistic middle-aged woman who lives with her mother (and sleeps in the same bed!) and likes to smell cum rags in jerkoff booths at the local pornography shop (then it goes downhill from there). Michael Haneke made The White Ribbon, which I loved, but this one was a real clinker. Farr liked it but that’s only because of cleft-chin boy (“Oooo-pair has a knack for playing unusually brainy women harboring erotic perversions”).
Dick Roeper: “… a pretentious and ultimately empty examination of a sick and evil woman.”
Ed Gonzalez writes: “In essence, Haneke rapes while Huppert stoically resists,“ which is pretty clever.
That’s her look while she jerks you off
Danza Española No. 5 "Andaluza"
Julian Bream’s brilliant version of Enrique Granados’s greatest composition:
Movies Watched -- Saint Jack (1979)
112 minute running so 20 minutes too long … movie adaptation of the Paul Theroux novel of the same name, Ben Gazzara plays a pimp in early 1970s Singapore … trouble is the DVD had poor quality audio and no subtitles, so it was tough to understand the story … interesting to see Singapore in the late 1970s though, still pretty backward … sex, homosexual sex, interracial sex, all topics the sex-obsessed Paul Theroux is into … I don’t think I would have been too thrilled with the movie if I could have understood it, though I do like Ben Gazzara, he’s an actor who took chances.
I have no time for him. He work all day, I work all night.
Movies Watched -- The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
84 minute running time … horror movie made at the depths of the recession so pretty bleak … it wasn’t very well done, but there were some creepy bits for sure that I guess future filmmakers ripped off shamelessly … I wouldn’t recommend this movie though. John Farr liked it more than me.

Elli Ingram with “Rocket” … she has beautiful teeth, so don’t I think she’s a council flats kid:
